Sports Palace of La Seu d'Urgell

The Palau d'Esports de La Seu d'Urgell hosts the matches of the Sedis Basketball Sports Association, among other events such as indoor football matches or multi-sports campus.

Following the topographical conditions, relating to the immediate environment, and the accessibility of the new pavilion with respect to the urban nucleus, and in order to minimize its visual impact on the outside, the building collapses with respect to the height of the streets.

The fact of sinking the level of the playing court causes the area of public and service to athletes to develop on two floors that occupy the entire front of the long side of the track. This whole area is organized around some courtyards that give ventilation and natural lighting to the changing rooms, services and the bodybuilding room that are at the same level of the playing court.

The access floor is at the height of the exterior inclined plane that serves as a space for the arrival and meeting of the public. This floor is located above the locker room and is articulated in three spaces that are visually linked through the glazed courtyards.

To the north of the building is organized a volume of one height where the rooms for sports entities, services and facilities are located. The five planned entity rooms open visually on the track and are illuminated and ventilated through five skylights located on the roof.
