Primary Care Centre and Municipal Library, in Santpedor

CAP and Municipal Library, in Santpedor

A mixed-use public facility combining a library and a primary care centre in Santpedor, designed as a civic building on a modest scale with a clear urban vocation. The project responds to the topographical constraints of the site with a staggered layout that allows part of the lower volume to be semi-buried, reducing the volumetric impact and reinforcing the relationship with the public space.

The library is located on the lower level, around a central courtyard that acts as the backbone of the building. This interior space ensures natural lighting, ventilation and orientation of the different areas, creating a controlled and serene environment that promotes concentration and prolonged use. The courtyard thus becomes the spatial and functional core of the complex, organising the routes and defining the interior spaces.

The Primary Care Centre is located in the upper volume, with direct access from street level.

The architecture is expressed through a sober composition, where the materiality and controlled transparency of the façades reinforce the public character of the building and its integration into the urban environment.
